Paul & Sharon with Stacy’s Helping Hands helped my parents, ages 89 and 86, move into independent living by their choice after my dad had three heart events. This made taking care of dad and taking care of the big house too much for my mom. Paul & Sharon really listened to my parents needs and their budget. The first day took them virtually to two different options to start. My parents loved the second option, Balfour in Louisville and signed documentation in a few weeks. Since they moved in they are thriving, living a great more active life. Playing bridge twice a week and participating in many other activities. Paul and Sharon checked in throughout the whole process. They also had some great referral options for the estate sale and other needs to complete this process. They even have visited several times since they moved. A very personal experience! I have sent several people to use their services and have only had glowing reviews from our friends. If you want a no pressure personal service, we highly recommend Paul & Sharon with Stacy’s Helping Hand!

2. Five Star Residences of Dayton Place - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

4.8 out of 5 stars, 44 reviews

Overview

Nestled in the heart of Denver, CO, Five Star Residences of Dayton Place is like a cozy treehouse for grown-ups who need a little extra TLC. This senior living community offers a smorgasbord of care options, from assisted living to memory care, all wrapped up in a newly renovated, spiffy package. Imagine a place where the staff knows your name, your favorite dessert, and probably your life story - that's the vibe here. Five Star Residences of Dayton Place has snagged the #2 spot out of 10 in the area, likely because they've mastered the art of making residents feel like they're on a permanent vacation (minus the sunburn and lost luggage).

Pros

  • Friendly and attentive staff
  • Recently renovated facilities
  • Flexible care options

Cons

  • Potential adjustment period for new residents
  • Limited availability due to popularity
  • May be overwhelming for those who prefer smaller communities

Customers Say

If customer reviews were a pool, Five Star Residences would be doing cannonballs into a sea of praise. Families rave about the attentive staff, with names like Melissa, Halaku, Lucy, and Hawa getting more shout-outs than a rap concert. The food gets two thumbs up (or maybe that's just residents reaching for seconds), and the renovations have turned the place into a senior living palace. Most importantly, families express a sense of relief knowing their loved ones are in good hands, allowing them to sleep easy at night - probably in a less fancy bed than their parents have at Five Star.

Customers have described it as:

Caring staff | Excellent care | Friendly residents | Good food | Comfortable living

The Verdict

Five Star Residences of Dayton Place isn't just a place to live; it's a place to thrive in your golden years. With a staff that treats residents like family (the kind you actually want to see during the holidays), top-notch care, and an environment that's been zhuzhed up to the nines, it's no wonder this place is collecting five-star reviews like they're going out of style. Sure, it might take a hot minute to adjust, and you might have to arm-wrestle someone for a spot, but once you're in, you're golden - literally and figuratively. If senior living were a hotel, Five Star Residences would be that fancy one with the chocolate on the pillow and the towels folded into swans.

Nearly ten years ago my parents moved to Five Star Residences of Dayton Place, after spending a couple of unhappy months at a nearby competing facility. Beginning in assisted living, then spending a couple of years in memory care, then back to assisted living after my mother passed away, the care has always been top notch. Friendly residents, friendly helpful staff, good food, reasonable cost, clean, and now they've recently completed(?) a major renovation, both inside and out. It looks great! Halaku and Melissa were my "go to" for questions - knowledgable and always helpful. Lucy and Hawa provided excellent care for dad. It was comforting knowing that my parents were in good hands. I am truly grateful!

Garden Terrace at Aurora isn't just a place where the elderly go to watch Jeopardy reruns (though I'm sure they have plenty of those too). It's a community where compassion meets competence, creating an environment that feels more like a cozy bed and breakfast than a sterile institution. While it may not be perfect - because let's face it, perfection is as rare as a millennial without student debt - it offers a level of care that gives families peace of mind and residents a sense of dignity. If nursing homes were rated like movies, Garden Terrace would be a heartwarming indie flick that leaves you feeling all warm and fuzzy inside.

My friend just moved here a couple weeks ago and she is 85 years old. I am so happy she is here. This is a beautiful place. I saw a little store if you need something, a community room where they play games, watch movies, etc. I didn't see the entire place but my friend loves. Her place has a kitchen, washer and dryer, balcony, big bathroom, very nice 👌. I'm so glad she is here in case she needs anything she can just call the desk and get the help she needs.

Connect with Caring Helpers Providing Reasonably-Priced Care

By bringing in some part-time private duty caregivers a few hours a week through a reputable service like CareYaya, you can take a lot of daily burdens off your aging loved ones' shoulders. These assistants can lend a hand with basic chores or personal care tasks that have gotten difficult to manage solo, whether due to dementia or physical frailty. CareYaya college students training to be nurses or doctors get special instruction on compassionately caring for seniors before being matched with local clients needing a boost. This way, they can help with assisted daily living care for your aging parents.

Starting rates at $17 per hour provide a reasonable price point for the aging population compared to traditional home care agencies that often charge double or triple the hourly rates. Scheduling visits from one of those medically-savvy helpers means your loved one always has someone responsible checking in on them, without breaking the bank.

If dad or grandma needs overnight assistance too, CareYaya can arrange vetted overnight caregivers in home as well. Having that reliable overnight care support prevents risky middle-of-the-night mobility mishaps and gives family caretakers well-deserved rest knowing that loved ones are in good hands. Rates for overnight elderly care through CareYaya run approximately $120 per night for an 8-hour session - less than half the cost of comparable local care agency options.
